Overview
Chad was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, in 1971. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, he got a job as a graphic designer at a small print shop near downtown Chicago. In his spare time he would visit the Chicago Art Institute to study masterworks by artists like Paul Cézanne, John Singer Sargent, Vincent van Gogh and others. Inspired by their works, he purchased an easel and began to paint pictures of landscapes, portraits, and still life imagery.
These days Chad continues to paint pictures from Phoenix, Arizona. He explores various subjects, including southwestern landscapes, desert flora, and still life imagery.
Artist Statement
“When I engage in the painting process, I strive to capture the essence of my subject. Inspiration comes from making the complex simple. My motivation comes from the challenge of expressing a unique style.”
“I’ve been influenced by the works of artists, both past and present. Past artists include Maynard Dixon, Georgia O’Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, and Euan Uglow. Present artists include Clyde Aspevig, Ann Gale, Catherine Kehoe, and Bruce Horn.”
